Ria launches My Ria app and partners with DIA Group in Spain

In today’s technology-fuelled society, Ria continues to innovate by creating digital solutions aimed at streamlining the money transfer process.

The latest product from Ria is the new mobile application, My Ria, which allows customers to initiate money transfers using their mobile phones, and pay for them by simply scanning a barcode at any authorized location in Spain. The app is currently available on Android and iOS in English and Spanish, with more languages to be added soon.

Well-recognized Spanish supermarket chain, the DIA Group, is the first business partner to offer their extensive network of locations, providing a faster and more convenient way for customers to pay their money transfers.

With more than 2,600 DIA, Clarel and La Plaza de DIA locations across the country, the partnership expands Ria’s existing Spanish agent network by adding thousands of additional points for customers to send money to their loved ones.

Customers can now pay their transfers with the new My Ria app at thousands of authorized Ria locations, including 2,600 stores from the DIA Group in Spain.

How it works

      • After downloading the My Ria app in Google Play or the Apple Store and activating a free account, customers can begin to initiate their money transfers.
      • Once the transfer has been confirmed, a barcode is generated which is used to pay at thousands of authorized Ria locations, including stores from the DIA Group in Spain.
      • After paying at the checkout, cash remittances are available at the destination for the beneficiary to collect within minutes.
      • Customers can also use the application to search for their nearest location, track their transfers in real time, and access their order history.

“Apps are becoming an essential part of our customers’ daily lives, and are a crucial part of our digital transformation,” said Francisco Martínez-Campos, Ria Spain’s Country Manager. He described the app as “one step further in the digitalization of Ria, with the ultimate goal of providing an omni-channel experience and improving the way money transfers are done.”

Eduardo González Cristos, Ria’s Digital BD & Innovation Lead explained: “We’ve worked hard to develop and launch a product that gives our customers the convenience of initiating their money transfers through their smartphones, and paying for them by simply scanning a barcode.

“Many of our customers still prefer to send money in person and My Ria allows them to do just that, in a faster and more efficient way, at thousands of new locations across Spain.”

This important launch is accompanied by a comprehensive marketing campaign, including TV spots on various networks, plus digital and outdoor advertising in Spain’s main metro and train stations. The following TV commercial (in Spanish) shows Ria customers using the application at a DIA group location.
